For such a brief history, ACRA has made remarkable headway:

2019

The Association officially changed its name to the Australasian Concrete Repair & Remedial Building Association Limited on 10 October 2019..

2018

The new SA HB84:2018 is published, available for purchasing via ACRA and SAI Global.

2017

ACRA has its first Trade Show in Melbourne VIC, Brisbane QLD will be the next in 2018 and NSW in 2019.

2016

ACRA introduces its 2 Day technical training course.

2015

NZ Sub Branch Committee established.

2014

Sub Branch Committees established in QLD, VIC and WA. SA, TAS and NZ to follow.

2013

ACRA changes its name to the Australasian Concrete Repair Association and begin taking our Technical Training course in Concrete Repair and Protection to New Zealand and ACRA launch their newly designed website.

2009

Redrafting and approval of Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association was passed by more than 75 percent of corporate members.

2008

ACRA forms collaboration with UNSW to introduce 4th year undergraduate engineering students to the concrete repair industry via a one hour lecture series and a series of thesis topics that the industry would like to see addressed.

2007

ACRA commissions its totally revamped new website and plans a trifecta of its popular technical seminars throughout 2007.

2006

30 “students” complete the two-day Corrosion and protection of reinforced concrete course. The technical and training sub-committee establishes the content for a 1-day version of the above course with plans to make it available in 2007 and begins work in conjunction with the ACA on a Concrete Diagnosis Course Module. ACRA presents Awards for Excellence in concrete repair. It partners with the Australasian Corrosion Association to stage the Corrosion and Protection 2006 Conference in Hobart, Tasmania, attended by over 250, publishes a new edition of the Guide to Concrete Repair and launches a new logo

2005

ACRA develops a two-day training course on corrosion and protection of reinforced concrete.

2004

ACRA Awards for Excellence include two new categories. Published is ACRA’s 28-page Standard Methods of Measurement document, made available free via its website. And ACRA teams with ACA to develop and stage an industry training course.

2002

ACRA announces an extension to the categories in its Excellence Awards program to include consultant and supplier members.

2002

ACRA lobbies for a “Balcony Bill” to make inspections mandatory following collapses in Chicago and in Manly

2002

ACRA stages its second Excellence Awards program.

2000

ACRA stages its inaugural Excellence Awards in four categories rewarding ACRA professionals for excellence as evaluated by a panel of judges from CSIRO.

1999

ACRA begins writing a regular column, ACRAword, which has featured in every edition since of Australian Concrete Construction magazine.

1998

ACRA stages its Challenging Case Studies seminar in Sydney.

1997-1998

ACRA changes its constitution to extend membership privileges to consultants.

1997

ACRA conducts one-day courses in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne on the content of the Guide to Concrete Repair and Protection.

1995

ACRA and CSIRO publish Recommended Practice — Concrete Repair & Protection Manual.

1995

Inauguration (in Sydney) of Breakfast Briefings for those responsible for the asset management of buildings and structures.

1995

The first draft of Recommended Practice — Concrete Repair & Protection Manual is circulated for comment.

1993

ACRA and CSIRO’s Division of Building Construction & Engineering hold talks to lay the groundwork for the joint drafting of Recommended Practice — Concrete Repair & Protection Manual.

1993

ACRA becomes an ASC-registered association with limited liability.

1992-1993

ACRA stages two-day courses for project managers on the state-of-the-art concrete repair.

1992

In association with CSIRO and RILEM (the International Union of Testing & Research Laboratories for Materials & Structures or Réunion Internationale des Laboratoires d’Essais et de Recherches sur les Matrériaux et les Constructions), ACRA hosts the international conference, Rehabilitation of Concrete Structures, at which 44 papers were presented by authors from around the world, 17 of which were Australians.

1991-1993

ACRA Steering committee is formed with Ian Godson as president and Noel Godson as secretary . Regular meetings are held, training courses put together and run in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. ACRA liaises with similar organisations overseas. Articles of Association are composed.

1990

The idea of forming such a body is canvassed with potential members and industry bodies.
