GENERAL
The Technical Committee (TC) is established by the ACRA Board under Rule 42 of the ACRA Constitution to support ACRA’s Objects (Rule 5) by providing technical leadership to the remedial building and concrete repair industry.
The Committee meets monthly, is led by a President and Vice President, and its composition is reviewed annually following the AGM in accordance with Board governance expectations.
The TC operates under Board delegation (Rules 42–43) and acts in an advisory capacity, ensuring all technical activities, publications, and decisions remain consistent with ACRA policy, confidentiality obligations (Rule 37.5), and the Constitution.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Technical Committee (TC) is to represent ACRA in its aim of setting standards for excellence in the concrete repair and remedial industry.
SCOPE
Under delegated authority from the Board, the Technical Committee’s scope includes:
- Developing and updating ACRA Standards, technical guidelines, and related documentation.
- Conducting technical peer review of ACRA training content, technical bulletins, and any technical material intended for publication.
- Supporting State Subcommittees and National events by sourcing demonstrations, speakers, and technical presentations.
- Reviewing technical enquiries received from members or the public and preparing draft responses for Board approval.
- Assisting other ACRA committees with technical advice, peer review, or content development.
- Ensuring all recommendations, advice, and publications meet Board approval requirements under the Constitution, including Rule 48 (public communication).
All activities are undertaken in compliance with meeting requirements (Rule 39) and proper record keeping (Rule 50).
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Technical Committee is to ensure all ACRA technical information, training materials, and industry guidance:
- Are technically accurate, evidence-based, and appropriately referenced;
- Reflect current industry Standards, codes, and regulations;
- Promote excellence and consistency within the remedial building and concrete repair sectors;
- Support ACRA’s role as a leading industry body; and
- Advance the Objects of ACRA under Rule 5.
