Women in Remedial Committee

Purpose Statement

GENERAL

The Women in Remedial (WIR) Committee is established by the ACRA Board under Rule 42 of the Constitution, enabling the Board to form committees to support the Objects of the Association and advance ACRA’s strategic goals. The Committee provides national leadership in promoting the participation, development, and visibility of women across the remedial building, engineering, and construction sectors.

The Committee meets monthly (or as required), is led by a Chair and Deputy Chair, and includes representation from contractors, engineers, consultants, and suppliers. A Board Sponsor provides governance oversight and strategic alignment with ACRA’s broader objectives.

Operating under Board delegation, the Committee undertakes advisory, delivery, and advocacy functions consistent with ACRA’s constitutional commitments, including promoting education, collaboration, technical excellence, professional development, and the advancement of the remedial industry.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of the Women in Remedial (WIR) Committee is to strengthen ACRA’s value to members by creating a national platform that supports, develops, and champions women across the remedial building industry. The Committee aims to foster diversity, enhance industry capability, and position ACRA as a forward-thinking, inclusive association aligned with national initiatives. Its purpose is to transform the future of the remedial industry by elevating the participation, visibility, and leadership of women, and to amplify the participation, success, and leadership of women across the remedial building, construction, and engineering sectors.

In a historically male-dominated and under-represented industry, the Committee champions a modern, inclusive, and highly capable workforce, one that reflects the future standards ACRA has been shaping since 1991. By providing women with opportunities to connect, develop, and lead, the Committee supports a strong and diverse pipeline of talent that strengthens both the Association and the broader remedial sector.
