SOLD OUT! – NSW – Repair & Rehabilitation – tickets are limited.

23 March 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

Description

ACRA is an Event Partner for the CIA seminar on 23 March 2022Repair and Rehabilitation presentation at the Kirribilli Club NSW.

Deciding whether a building or structure should be repaired or demolished is a critical decision and many factors need to be considered such as safety concerns, financial costs and the impact on the occupants. The key to any decision is the engineering viability of rehabilitation and whether it will extend the life of the structure sufficiently to make it worthwhile. This may sound simple in theory but there are many issues to be considered in reality.

Our team of presenters have extensive experience in this area and will address the factors impacting repair and rehabilitation decisions from a variety of different perspectives and refer to a number of different case studies. They will also cover the repair/rehabilitation techniques and their effectiveness and viability in any given scenario.

BCRC’s Jonathon Dyson will present on traditional and innovative concrete repair options including patching, crack injections, concrete sealers, protective coating, carbon fibre strengthening and various types of Impressed Current, Hybrid and Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection (SACP) systems. He will discuss the differences and possible advantages and disadvantages of various CP systems in different applications. Case studies will be discussed including the remedial design and specification of a swimming pool, a concrete slab with magnesite flooring and a car park structure. Jack’s presentation will give an insight into the rehabilitation of the MLC Façade Maintenance Project, a once in a lifetime design and construct remedial project on one of Sydney’s most iconic buildings. Jack will touch on the many and varied repair strategies that were adopted for this project and discuss the challenges and innovative solutions required to complete this massive project. This presentation will be told through the lens of durability in design to achieve the required design life for this rehabilitation project. James Aldred will provide examples of repair techniques for restoring or improving the performance of concrete elements. James will cover the detection of defects as well as techniques to rehabilitate structures or elements with excessive defection, honeycombing, cracking and chloride penetration.
