Recently we were asked if we could cover Remedial wall/brick repair systems so we have two experts who will cover, remedial ties and chemical damp courses. Your presenters will be from Helifix and ACRA Members Westox.

Our first speaker is Barrie Cooper from Westox. Barry is the Director of Westox and is a developer or optimize systems for restoring heritage buildings to save wood lath ceilings and walls, desalinate masonry to prevent deterioration and eliminate rising damp. His presentation will show various types of damp proof courses used but makes the point that dampness is not the cause of damage although it has received the blame for many years, we then show how salt contamination from the ground travels in solution into masonry and causes damage and how it is removed and that it must be removed to have a successful treatment or you are left with hygroscopic salts in the wall. (secondary dampness).

Our second presenter is Nader Zaki Bussiness Unit Manager at Helifix. Nader will  be covering Remedial wall/brick ties. Based on their own unique helical design, they have developed a range of high performance stainless steel ties, fixings and masonry repair and reinforcement systems that combine the required strength with flexibility, durability and great holding power in all commonly used building materials.
