Therefore, structures need to be visually inspected and quantitatively assessed in order to plan the maintenance and repair operations (asset maintenance management).
To propose proper repair strategy and methodology (methods and materials) the condition of the structure/s must be assessed precisely.
Any structural and durability assessment of the structures must include the following activities:

• Detailed visual inspections
• Monitoring and measurements of quantitative parameters
• Data analysis
• Estimating residual service life of the structure utilising mathematical models
• Providing optimised repair and rehabilitation solutions to extend the service life of the structure
