Have your say on the draft Design and Building Practitioners Regulation 2020. Livestream today at 2pm, 1 December. By NSW Fair Trading.

Your chance to offer feedback on the draft Design and Building Practitioners Regulation 2020. The draft Regulation is part of NSW Government reforms to strengthen accountability and improve compliance in Class 2 buildings, particularly multi-story residential apartments.

The Regulation would introduce:

· registration schemes for design and building practitioners and for professional engineers

· minimum registration requirements for practitioners and professional engineers

· new obligations for design and building practitioners to declare their work is compliant with the Building Code of Australia

· a Code of Practice for design and building practitioners and professional engineers that sets minimum professional and ethical standards

· investigative and enforcement powers to monitor and assess compliance with the legislation.

The proposed laws aim to improve the quality and compliance of design documentation and ensure that designs and construction work comply with the Building Code of Australia.
