Understanding Concrete Cracking and Crack Remediation

Concrete cracking is a common phenomenon and is often not a concern. However, it is important to understand the nature of the crack and its impact on the structural and durability performance of structures. This session will be of interest to asset owners, designers, constructors and suppliers. Our speakers will cover a range of topics related to concrete cracking and remediation. Our first speaker, Rodney Paull, Technical Director – GHD, will provide insight into crack investigation and assessment. This presentation will be followed by a presentation by Sika providing guidance on selection of suitable materials and systems for crack treatment. Sika will also reference EN1504 for customising crack repair principles and methods. This is to align with the current ACRA ‘Setting the Standards’ initiative for local adoption of EN1504 as a local Australian Standard. Phil Browne, Director at Elite Concrete Protection and Repair will conclude the session with a presentation on crack remediation from an execution perspective.
